In 1963, longtime Little Jimmy Scott fan Ray Charles not only produced this LP, he also played piano on it. Scott earned his trust, and the result is this neglected classic, which falls somewhere between Frank Sinatra's Nice and Easy and Etta James' At Last. Yes, Scott's sound is eccentric (he has a disorder that resulted in him skipping puberty) but his attention to the lyric is so intense that he brings out completely new elements in old standards.
