Yoko compiled a bunch of John's acoustic demos, splitting the difference between clean studio cuts and lo-fi at-home recordings. While nobody ever needs to hear Lennon bleat out the acoustic "Cold Turkey" more than once, the majority of the versions here are just heart-melting. "Watching the Wheels" is one standout, and "Real Love" is better here than in the Anthology recast. Funny, Americans always use "Working Class Hero" as an example of Lennon's lefty politics, but this version makes the lyric's venomous contempt for the compliant (but macho) masses even plainer.
