John Stewart

About

Singer-songwriter Stewart got his start in the early 1960s as a songwriter for hire. His most famous song is probably "Daydream Believer," which was a big hit for the Monkees. The Kingston Trio recorded some of his songs, and he eventually joined the band. He left in 1967 to record California Bloodlines, a record of Country Rock and Folk-Rock songs similar to those on Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline. Stewart has a deep, resonant voice with a warm and slightly weathered feel. He has continued to put out records that show his abiding love for country and folk music.
