Johnny Copeland

About

Indicative of music he heard as a child, Johnny Copeland’s music is a blend of the Funk of New Orleans and the Jump Blues of Kansas City. Although he began recording in the late ‘50s, he didn’t begin to attract a following until the early ‘80s. His fiery delivery and legendary high energy performances earned him the title of the “Texas Twister.” Known for his horn-driven swinging sound, Copeland was also able to synthesize African rhythms into his records.
