If you prefer to get your history lessons in song form, listen to Johnny Horton. While he started out as a great honky-tonk singer, this album brought him his biggest success -- specifically, the uber-Americana grit of "The Battle of New Orleans." "Cherokee Boogie" shows echoes of his former self, although the song probably won't win any awards for political correctness.
