Over the years his style's evolved beyond imitation, but has looked backwards in time rather than forwards, recalling Swing and Chicago hot-jazz as well as classic Bop. An unabashed traditionalist, Faddis's technique is nonetheless impressive: he boasts a jaw-dropping range and a rare sensitivity of tone. His arrangements often feature lush, impeccable orchestrations and rich harmonies.
