Prolific and ubiquitous, Englishman Langford is a founding member of the seminal cult Punk band The Mekons, whose career began 20 years ago. He has since moved to the U.S. and is closely aligned with a certain rabble-rousing faction of the Alt Country/Americana scene. In addition to performing as a solo artist, Langford also records with his "country band," The Waco Brothers, the rock band Skull Orchard and myriad other side projects. The Mekons' career has been one fueled by fearless genre experimentation and appropriation and has seen the band embracing country, world music, Dub, and anything else they thought might get the point across. Langford continues to bring this eclecticism to his music, as well as his strong socialist bent and fine sense of humor.
