Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler was better known for his songwriting than singing for years: his songs have been performed by Ana Belen, Pablo Milanes, Ketama, Jaime Roos and Adriana Varela, among many others. But Drexler is a singer of uncommon subtlety, as the world discovered when his "Al Otro Lado Del Rio" (from the film Motorcycle Diaries) won an Oscar in 2005. Drexler's 2005 release Eco promised to garner the singer even more fame, thanks to his delicate, unusual songwriting style and wonderful voice.
