Rhapsody

Following Romance of the Violin, which spent 50 weeks in the Top 10 in 2003, Joshua Bell recorded this album of popular arias re-imagined for his Stradivarius. His instrument shimmers with restraint as he phrases each line as if it were a breath. See Strauss' "Morgen" for a vocal cameo by star soprano Anna Netrebko, and note how well Bell's tone mixes with hers. J.A.C. Redford'Âs arrangements support Bell without a moment of clutter, albeit tempi are often slow. For those looking to luxuriate in sound, this pacing gives the album a start to finish sweetness.
