About
Born in Long Beach but raised in Tijuana, Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas is very much a border child. Her musical influences span the gamut from norteno bands to British and American rockers, and though she plays the accordion, she uses it in a style that recalls Tom Waits more than los Tigres del Norte. Venegas's engaging but left-of-center work has gained her the support of heavyweights including producer Gustavo Santaolalla and touring partners Aterciopelados and Los Lobos.
