Kelly Osbourne

A major departure from her first album and an upgrade in quality, Sleeping in the Nothing is a sophisticated, moody pop gem. Kelly sounds more like a singer than a famous daughter here, which means that anyone who was a fan will remain one while folks who had written her off may be re-thinking things.

The fact that Kelly Osbourne still can't sing kind of helps her second album: Lacking any
diva pretensions, Osbourne matter-of-factly handles the vocals on this occasionally
invigorating disc of shiny dance rock. And with crucial help from songwriter Linda Perry,
she translates family stuff and rehab stories into pop confessionals that are sometimes
undercooked but never try too hard.
