Ken Stringfellow is a busy guy. Besides playing the occasional R.E.M. or Big Star show, he has been known to throw together impromptu reunions for the Posies, a seminal Seattle Power Pop band that launched his career. These tracks find Stringfellow doing the solo bit, with sparkling pop brilliance layered in towering vocal harmonies and warm sheets of white noise. At times, these cathartic musings capture a new dimension of smacked-out bliss similar to some of the darker songs found on Chris Bell's I Am The Cosmos. Although Stringfellow has more than proven himself as a solo artist, his incandescence is most tangible when he is working within the chemistry of other stellar musicians. Stringfellow's short-lived work with the band Saltine ended in the unnecessary split of a phenomenal band with soaring, emotional songs that are so real, it would be no surprise if they were discovered years after their demise by an embracing audience (much like the aforementioned Big Star).
