Kenny Loggins

Loggins' first offering as a solo artist, Celebrate Me Home, failed to win the singer any major hits (though they would come), but the album did effectively separate him from the L.A. country rock he'd been associated with in Loggins & Messina. Messing with notions of funk and soul, belting out ballads with Broadway levels of earnestness and deftly changing up vocal styles -- often midsong -- Celebrate Me Home's rewards may simply be in listening to Loggins put himself through vocal calisthenics with his trademark effortlessness.

As the ads for this album have so insistently pointed out, this first solo LP has been five
years in coming. The last time Loggins set out to tackle such a project, ex-Poco member
