Laptopper Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) and jazz drummer Steve Reid's fourth collaboration might be their most incendiary yet. Kicking off with the rocket blast of "Lyman Place," their inspired ode to NYC takes in On the Corner-style funk fusion, Afro-beat grooves and moments of free, droning spazz, all swirled together with grace. It's rare that an album this "challenging" turns out to be so immediately pleasurable.
