Kinky

Kinky must be on a creative bender -- not terribly long after releasing Reina, they tossed off this five-song EP, which features three original instrumentals and two covers of '80s hits. They revivify the Pointer Sisters' "Automatic," uncovering its sensuality while staying surprisingly faithful to the original, but the crowning gem is a tongue-in-cheek cover of Wall Of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio" that sears the song with irony, a hint of anger and references to the tempestuous border region between Mexico and the U.S. These boys just get hotter and hotter.
