Klaxons

Klaxons are all the things a scene-making band should be: shambolic, exuberant and more than a little nuts. As the leading exponents of new rave -- the sound of indie boys hammering out the frantic rhythms and loops of acid house -- their debut LP was inevitably going to be interesting, and so Myths of the Near Future proves to be. Veering sharply from the blissy "Golden Skans" to the ruck of "Four Horsemen of 2012," it's a perplexing, enthralling ride -- the only disappointment being the exclusion of Kicks Like A Mule cover "The Bouncer." Don't say they've started taking themselves seriously.

On the sliding scale of terrible ideas, a U.K. "New Rave" scene rates somewhere between
cat juggling and Studio 60. Until now, the best case you could make for old-school
Madchester-era rave was that at least it didn't have any revival potential. But the Klaxons
have made a bold entrance with the club hit "Atlantis to Interzone," dressing up in
