The single-driven hit album 604 spawned many an imitator for its cheeky cool and was a leading example for the electroclash set. Light & Magic's darker turn showed the group more than neu-New Wave imitators and gave the world "Seventeen," a whisper-led anthem for the barely legal. The 2005 album Witching Hour is downright swaddled in shoegaze guitars and Cocteau Twins synth sounds, but still manages some icy jet-setter complaints, like "International Dateline."
