This is what "Martin Luther King died for" -- the "new testament" from the "heir to the thrown." Our less-than-humble emcee begs the Grammy committee to stop "sleeping on a n*gg* like I'm rapping in my jammies"; observes "these n*gg*s is ducks/ call me Scrooge/ I'm swimming in bucks"; and confides that "I sh*t on myself/ I'm so tired of sh*tt*ng on everybody else." Throughout, Weezy wrestles with language, trying to forge jokes, taunts and occasionally pathos from raw, stream-of-conscious flows. That said, the production is (at times) tinny, and the hooks rarely grab hold.
