At the dawn of the new millennium, American Neo-Soul artists such as Eric Benet and Adriana Evans are rediscovering the smooth, flute-tooting R&B of the 1970s. England's Lisa Stansfield spent the hip-hop-mad '90s traveling that path, but stopped off for a little Barry White-influenced Disco before scoring big with the uptown Soul of her self-titled third (and best) album. She has always been a sensitive singer, and Stansfield's first starring film role in Swing finds her belting out jazz and R&B standards in front of a classy big band.
