Little Brother

In 2007 hip-hop circled the and Little Brother (who've spent a good part of their career knocking other rappers) took on critics of hip-hop. On the track "Sirens," Phonte quips, "Like before Kool Herc, everything was alright/ Like y'all wasn't calling black women hos before 'Rappers Delight'." LB have always been amiable revolutionaries, and the best tracks here (including single "Good Clothes" and their collaboration with Lil' Wayne, "Breakin' My Heart") marry appealing old-school production work to inspirational, day-in-the-life vignettes. Despite the departure of 9th Wonder, Little Brother stay strong.

Little Brother's last album, The Minstrel Show, was a near-brilliant commentary on
contemporary black culture and the ways that mainstream media distort it. But social
