In drastic contrast to his brother James, Livingston Taylor has enjoyed critical accolades but never captured wide public attention. Accounting for Livingston's second string status is a difficult task. That he's often content to interpret the songs of others rather than writing his own material is probably the main reason since, especially in his younger days, Livingston's smooth vocals were a match for his brother's. His singing has since deepened and roughened, but the younger of the performing Taylors remains a highly respected voice in the Folk Pop community.
