Lloyd Cole

This uncommonly fine odds 'n' ends collection plays like a cohesive album, with Cole's characters shaking their heads and smiling as their lives fall apart ("Another Lover" is like a good short story). Lloyd's comfortable enough to cover Dylan's "You're a Big Girl Now" and "Memphis," a classic by Karen Black, the cross-eyed siren of 1970s cinema.
