Recording classic country covers has become so commonplace, entire albums of them now rarely elicit more than a yawn. Lorrie Morgan's A Moment in Time is an exception. Morgan and her band recorded live in the studio, with no retakes or overdubs, forgoing post-production gloss in favor of some old-fashioned grit. "A Moment in Time," with Raul Malo of the Mavericks, is a torch-soaked slice of domestic bliss that evokes an audible sigh every time it's played. Conversely, "Love Is Where You Find It" is a cheating song that warns, "There's nothing cold as ashes after the fire is gone."
