Lu Watters and the Yerba Buena Jazz Band

About

Trumpeter Lu Watters led the Yerba Buena Jazz Band, one of the instrumental groups in the Dixieland revival of the 1940s. Though closely modeled to resemble the joyful, ensemble-oriented sounds of late 1910s and early 1920s New Orleans Jazz a la King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, Watters and company played with a conviction and focus that has led their music to hold up nearly as well as the original article.
