Neither as revelatory as 2000's Word of Mouf or as consistent as 2004's Red Light District, Chicken and Beer finds Luda returning to well-worn themes: hos, clubs, and…uh, hos. But if his subject is simplistic, his delivery is anything but, and singles such as "P-Poppin'" and "Stand Up" are as crafty as they are catchy.
