M83's sophomore album is a completely entrancing mix of wondrous, awestruck sentiment and blasts of synth, hazy guitar, and warm electric tones. The My Bloody Valentine/Air comparisons are still accurate, but the songs are more fleshed out here, with the frozen romance of "Farewell/Goodbye" sounding especially strong.

Anthony Gonzalez of m83 from Antibes, France, creates grand, ornate arrangements of
simple compositions that draw from both electronic drone and rock drama. Buzzing guitars
get finely processed to resemble synths, while synths pound away at power chords to
