Mark Isham

Many of Isham's film scores have a strong jazz element, but the horn player turns the cool heat up a notch on this excellent release. Centered around Isham's fine original tunes (and a couple of covers, including a sublime reading of Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood"), Blue Sun updates the classic Miles Davis sound while employing contemporary touches.
