Marky Ramone & the Intruders

About

In the late 1970s, Mark Bell unwittingly participated in the fashioning of a genre by playing drums on a song by Richard Hell & the Voidoids called "Blank Generation." Shortly thereafter, he replaced Tommy Ramone as the drummer in a band called the Ramones and played on a bunch of albums that would come to define the sound of Punk rock. They broke up twenty years later, but now Marky has harnessed the same energy and Ritalin-fueled attack that put the kick into the Ramone's sound, and once again set the top spinning. Guitars chug through songs built loosely on pop melodies, with lyrics about such things as telephone love. Some of the crash and bash may be gone in favor of a cleaner, more streamlined '90s sound, but the music is still enough to make Punk fans giddy with joy.
