R&B sister act Mary Mary played a key role in bringing the Christian music industry to the attention of mainstream audiences. Their debut album, Thankful, went platinum and its single "Shackles" made its way onto gospel, soul and pop charts, setting a precedent that invigorating a quiescent niche. Produced by Warryn Campbell (Brandy, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, Luther Vandross), their R&B grooves are as tight as it gets, but without sacrificing clear evidence that they were raised on gospel. The duo got their "big break" on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Show.
