Given their penchant for punky-pop hooks, it's hardly surprising that the duo made a winning impression on young, hip myspace.com users. Falling somewhere between angst-ridden Tegan and Sara and the more melodic Michelle Branch, Meg & Dia's music borrows heavily from the quiet-loud-quiet sensibilities of emo. "Monster" charms with a falsetto vocal that snakes its way around a noisy squall of guitars, while "Tell Mary" shows off the band's softer side.
