Legendary on the underground House scene in the Bay Area since the early '90s, the risk-taking quartet Mephisto Odyssey move between House, new school breaks and downtempo arenas with style and ease. Having climbed from the City of Angels imprint to major label Warner after remixing Jane's Addiction's "So What!," these scene-creators continue to overlook confining stylistic boundaries. Attitudinal breaks clamor over raw melodic moves, rare vocal samples and basslines stripped of an outdated, funky feel. Boasting an almost take-it-or-leave-it demeanor on each individual track, Mephisto Odyssey are poised to forge their own path through dance music territory.
