Mike Oldfield

The Killing Fields is no joke, and neither is Mike Oldfield's score. As you'd expect for a film about Cambodia's Khmer Rouge, the prog-rocker's score fluctuates wildly between grim, manic and flat-out despair. There are plenty of moody electronics from the dude who gave us Tubular Bells, but Oldfield also proves to be a master composer of neoclassical music. All in all, The Killing Fields is a stunning piece of movie music. It will enthrall you even if you haven't seen this harrowing flick.
