Mad genius Alexander "Skip" Spence left Moby Grape, the band he started, halfway through the making of its second album, Wow. That said, its follow up, Moby Grape '69, not only contains one of Spence's greatest songs (the harrowing psychedelic jammer "Seeing"); it's the second best record of the band's career, just behind its debut. But let's return to "Seeing" -- if you dig Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd, or great '60s rock in general, listen to this grand sonic epic. There's nothing quite like it.
