Monte Negro

About

Two brothers with some of the best names in the business, Rodax and Kinski Gallo have been working at music since they were teens. Originally the L.A.-raised duo had no interest in their Mexican heritage; their first music foray was as the punk band Anima. After that group dissolved, they hooked up with drummer Xavier Lopez and guitarist Jason Li Shing and formed Madrepore. Over the course of a few months, the foursome discovered they had grown interested in the Latin alternative scene and in their Mexican heritage, so they changed their name to reflect their evolving focus, becoming Monte Negro. The group's full-length debut, Cicatrix, gained traction thanks to a re-release in August 2008.
