If you've paid any attention to the history of Black Metal, you should know who Mortiis is. He's the cloaked, elfin creature with the pointy ears and nose who was, once upon a time, a member of Emperor. However, his music bears no resemblance to any of the other Black Metal artists except for the recent sounds echoing out of Burzum's prison cell. Mortiis has combined the most lamentable elements of Black Metal and Ambient music -- respectively, embarrassing stage makeup and music that is as forgettable as the wallpaper in a dark room. His novelty item, dungeon ambiance, is appropriate to a fly-by-night, carny house of horrors, and sounds more like MIDI files of Andrew Lloyd Weber overtures than the soundtrack to your nightmares.
