It's a bit unsettling that after 25 years, Lemmy hasn't softened his attack in the least -- he just keeps on cranking out obscenely loud, heavier-than-heavy metal. At times, Inferno sounds as vital as anything Motorhead put out in the 1980s. "In the Year of the Wolf" is a late-period classic.

Considering that most of their metal compadres have burned out or turned to self-parody,
Motorhead's continued volatility alone is impressive. Inferno blazes ahead with the same
full-bodied attack as on their early classics, keeping their big-ass riffs, speed-punk grooves
and Lemmy's doomsaying bullshit-free.
