A project started by accomplished Deep House producer Jay Denes (of Blue Six
fame), Naked Music NYC first appeared in 1998 as a downbeat union of several
East Coast-based Neo-Soul authorities. Not to be confused with the
high-profile Naked Music imprint, this Om Records-endorsed collective is led
by Denes alongside solid vocalists Ada Dyer and Catherine Russell. Naked
Music NYC's steamy grooves present positive, relaxed atmospheres shaded with
the funkier tones of jazz. Utterly unconcerned with pop appeal, this stuff
is simply groovy.
