New Grass Revival

The country-rock revolution that began in California in the late '60s changed not only pop music, but country and bluegrass as well. On their sophomore album, released in 1975, New Grass Revival injected Appalachian music with a dose of rock 'n' roll when they brought in bass player and vocalist John Cowan, a longhair who sounded more in debt to Otis Redding and Poco's Richie Furay than Bill Monroe. On the soulful "Good Woman's Love," he howls as if he's fronting Humble Pie or something.
