About
Mixing avant jazz Fusion with modern electronica, Molvaer is a progressive jazz trumpeter with an innovative style of composition and a soft tone reminiscent at times of Miles Davis. His languid melodies float over an ever-shifting collage of chunky beats and melancholy harmonies, all cloaked in a rich Ambient haze. His first album Khmer was a critical and musical success, selling more than 100,000 records -- no small feat for a jazz artist -- but more importantly it showed an expansive vision of where jazz may be headed. The people with whom Molvaer has worked are just as telling of his talent -- electronica artists Rockers Hi-Fi and Herbaliser have done remixes of his work. Furthermore, Molvaer has lent his talent to many greats over the past few years, from drummer Elvin Jones to producer Bill Laswell.
