One of the more refreshing sounds to come out of indie rock in years is also one of the most basic. A torrent of in-the-red guitar squall and drums pounded like a pubescent teen doing a Keith Moon imitation, Nouns ranges from Modern Lovers-esque primitive-pop to near shoegazer saturated bliss. Nouns adds some muted acoustic/keyboard action ("Things I Did When I Was Dead") and a burst of fairly straightforward garage pop ("Cappo").

L.A. may be the center of plastic glamour, but this noise—punk duo prove the city still has a
dangerous side. Guitarist Randy Randall and drummer—singer Dean Spunt got their start
playing at the shit—hole all—ages venue the Smell, and their second album celebrates those
