Of Montreal have gotten the good sense to step out of the realm of neo-psychedelic whimsy and put out something with a bit more crunch and resonance. The melodies are still as wide-eyed and colorful as before, but this time around the group sounds tighter and more willing to give you a hook to latch onto.
