Oscar D'Leon

After a sharp deviation from form with 2006's reggaeton-infused Fuzionando, 2008's Tranquilamente...Tranquilo was billed as a return to classic form -- and it is. Crisp and to-the-point at just nine tracks, D'Leon makes several songs really count: "Hasta Que Vuelvas" and "Tienes Uno, Tengo Otra" stand back-to-back, appealing and lovelorn and utterly convincing. Contemporary salsa often suffers from a certain sameness, and D'Leon's is no exception, but for the most part this album will remind you why this Venezolano hangs with the best of the classic New York crew.
