Oxford Collapse

About

Something of a late-coming, distant cousin to the aught years Brooklyn no-wave resurgence, Oxford Collapse's intricate synth-guitar arrangements have more in common with the '90s underground than '80s pop acts. Led by the tangling guitar lines and vocals of Michael Pace, the trio was completed by drummer Dan Fetherston and a succession of bassists ending with Adam Rizer. After releasing a self-titled EP in 2002, their first proper record, Some Wilderness, was issued on New York's Kanine label. Kanine also released the A Good Ground LP in July 2005. In 2006 the band followed up with Remember the Night Parties, which was produced by hot-handed John Agnello (Sonic Youth, the Hold Steady) and issued on indie heavyweight Sub Pop to wide acclaim.
