Pastor Troy

Pastor Troy's best work has a gothic quality. His ragged beats, rattling flow, constant gun talk and unsettling misogyny disguise the religious themes running throughout. His is an old testament God -- fatalistic, vindictive and violent -- and Troy is content to play the part of the gun-toting preacher. Here, Troy fumbles further into the darkness, identifying with a certain Middle Eastern despot on "Saddam" and leering at strippers on “Hard for the Money.”
