Paul Westerberg

After Paul Westerberg learned about the animated film "Open Season," he dashed off the tune "Right to Arm Bears." The producers were so impressed that they signed the ex-'Mat leader to write all the songs for the film. It's a little strange that Westerberg is so adept at writing happy pop songs about wild critters, but tunes like "Meet Me in the Meadow" and "Love You in the Fall" are some of the better solo tracks he's written.

Of the eight songs Paul Westerberg wrote for this soundtrack to a film about animated
woodland creatures, there’s not a dud in the bunch, a handful are very good, and all of
them sound at least as much like his beloved old band, the Replacements, as any of his
