Paula Frazer

About

Paula Frazer's voice is aural nectar. Her otherworldly singing matures with every project, her cinematic pop songs hitting you softly like circles of light from an afternoon lens flare. When she sings you can sometimes hear hints of her youth; the singer's celestial inflections began in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Sautee Nacoochee, Ga., where she was born and raised. (Frazer began singing as a child in her father’s church choir.) Frazer's former outfit, Tarnation, created the rustic twang associated with bands like Mazzy Star and Mojave 3. Her current sound is free-floating, easy-on-the-ears roots based work that nods to American songcrafting and European composition. You'll hear sublime hints of Patsy Cline, the Zombies, Edith Frost, the Carter Family, Palace, the Cocteau Twins and contemplative soundtrack composers such as Ennio Morricone and Hugo Montenegro.
