For a band named Pentagram, these guys sure were light on the Satanism. OK, "Virgin Death" is kind of evil, but what's so dark about a fuzzed out version of the Rolling Stones' "Under My Thumb"? More Blue Cheer than Black Sabbath, Pentagram were an obscure outfit of 1970s doom metal pioneers unearthed by the wonderful reissue industry. Wah-wah pedals, sludgy bass riffs and resin resonating vocals will make you want to part your hair straight down the middle with one of those really big combs.
