With simple, effective hooks and a flourish of keyboards, Swedish duo Roxette managed to stay on the American pop charts for the better part of the late '80s and early '90s. Look Sharp! showcased Marie Fredriksson's clear, emotive vocals as well as Pere Gessle's knack for writing sugary pop songs. "The Look," "Dressed for Success," "Listen to Your Heart" and "Dangerous" hit the upper reaches of American Top 40 charts. Although they lacked the staying power of some of their contemporaries, Roxette remain a favorite for those who don't consider pop music to be a dirty word.
