Rhapsody

Like a louder, drunker, West Coast Jimmy Buffett, Sammy Hagar shows up barefoot and cocktailed to rock the weekend warrior set. The Wabos are his usual band of hard-charging, radio-ready players (including Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony) and the songs are typical of Hagar's tequila-fueled lifestyle. Titles like "Livin' on a Coastline," "Mexico" and "I Love This Bar" hint towards the Coppertoned, top-down party anthems Hagar traffics in, and rootsy, acoustic opener "Sam I Am" is primed to burn up AOR airwaves. Livin' It Up is best taken on the beach with lime and salt.
