Before breaking out with Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl spent some time slapping skins for the seminal Hardcore outfit Scream. One of the Dischord label's first generation acts, Scream were noteworthy for their incendiary anti-authority lyrics and Mach speed playing that turned mosh pits into churning whirlpools of leather boots and human flesh. Thumbing their nose at the poppier West Coast Punk sound, these D.C. punks turned out classic slabs of driving, angst-fueled Hardcore.
